As far as we know,  the reporter himself did not respond to any of the emails he received in this matter, responded only once on the phone, that he cannot find anything wrong, the way he reported about this accident.
However - the family acknowledges the respond of the editor of the Calgary Sun, who received CCs of our messages

Dear Mr. Boesemeyer:
A further note to inform you that we contacted our Canoe web site designers and informed them of the grief their decision to label the photo of your son's car accident as photo of the day caused. As a result of your very valid complaint they informed us that they have established a firm policy banning such titles on tragic photos. Small comfort I know, but I hope it helps just a little bit.

Once again, please accept my deepest condolensces over the death of Frank and my deepest apologies for unknowingly adding to your already unimaginable grief.
